Transfer: Chelsea get De Jong boost as Man Utd pick alternative

Chelsea have been given a monumental boost in their transfer pursuit of Frenkie de Jong as Man United have identified a transfer alternative to the Barcelona midfielder.

Both Chelsea and Man United are linked with a move for De Jong this summer.

Man United have already agreed to a deal with Barcelona for De Jong, but the 25-year-old is not keen on a move as a result giving Chelsea a big boost in their transfer hopes for the player.

According to The Athletic, Man United are now working on a deal to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus should they fail to land De Jong.

Nevertheless, a deal for Rabiot will likely be a one-year contract initially.

This is a massive boost for Chelsea even if Man United have not fully ruled themselves out of the De Jong battle.

Chelsea co-owner, Todd Boehly, now has a great chance to strike a deal with Barcelona for De Jong.

Barca could soon have deals in place with Chelsea and Manchester United, but the Dutchman doesn’t seem ready to depart.
