Police arrest ex-convict for traffic robbery in Lagos

· Metro

The Police in Lagos have arrested an ex-convict, Emmanuel Sunday, for alleged traffic robbery in Ketu, Kosofe Local Government Area.

Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin announced the arrest in a statement.

Sunday, notorious for dispossessing motorists of their belongings, was apprehended by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

He was caught when RRS officials working undercover spotted him while trying to dispossess a motorist of his phone at Ojota Underbridge.

The police spokesman said the 32-year-old revealed he was recently released from prison.

He was nabbed by the Alapere Police Division earlier in the year for stealing, and was sentenced to a three-month jail term in Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

Sunday’s arrest followed the deployment of undercover officers to comb areas with incidences of traffic robbery, Hundeyin added.

Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi has directed increased patrol to fish out other traffic robbers in Lagos.
